AKA HØEGH - By the Sea
Nordatlantens Brygge is presenting the acclaimed Greenlandic artist Aka Høegh (born 1947 in Qaqortoq) in its two exhibition rooms from January to April.
In By the Sea one can experience a large sample of her works from water colors and oil paintings to sculpture and prints.
Aka Høegh is without a doubt one of the most important temporary artists of her generation and in Greenland as such. She has like only few others managed to present Greenland on the international art scene. She is represented on several museums a.o. the National Museum in Greenland, Kobberstiksamlingen in Copenhagen, Riksmuseet in the Netherlands and the National Museum of Iceland.
In her art Aka Høegh often revolves around nature, the sea and the myths and stories of the Inuits with a recurring interest in the legend of the Mother of the Sea.
The exhibition is arranged in collaboration between Nordatlantens Brygge and Aka Høgh with support from Statens Værksteder where part of the exhibition has been created.
