IMAQ, HAVIÐ, HAVET
The work of art Imaq, Havið, Havet (which means ’The Sea’ in three different languages) explores the ties between Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. It was created by three artists: Hansina Iversen from the Faroe Islands, Jessie Kleemann from Greenland and Gudrun Hasle from Denmark.
The work constitutes an artistic treatment of the quay paving at Nordatlantens Brygge.
Hansina Iversen has created eighteen stars in an array of colours, using Faroese basalt as material. Each star represents an island in the Faroe Islands. Jessie Kleemann has embedded three cod, a type of fish that swim in the waters of all three countries, as well as eggs made of Greenlandic white marble. Gudrun Hasle has scattered large dandelions, echoing how dandelions can also be found spread out across all three countries.
