Arctic Venue hosts exhibitions, lectures, films and other events focused on creating visibility and understanding of the climate changes occurring in the Arctic.
Lørdag den 12.-18. december 2009
The Arctic represents a particular showcase for global climate change. The consequences of global warming are already affecting the Arctic to a great degree. However, the consequences of the impacts of global warming go beyond the Arctic. In short: the consequences are global.
As a consequence, the Arctic and Nordic countries have developed and gathered comprehensive and unique knowledge about climate change in the Arctic as well as subsequent global effects of the ongoing changes in the Arctic.
Numerous research institutions and organisations have expressed a desire to communicate the knowledge gathered thus far. Therefore, the Danish Energy Agency took the initiative to join efforts with institutions and organisations from the Arctic, the Nordic countries and key research institutions to unify and coordinate dissemination, events, messages and other activities during COP 15 to highlight Arctic climate change.
The aim of the Arctic Venue is to create visibility and understanding of the climate changes occurring in the Arctic to the public and the international media gathered in Copenhagen during COP 15.
